Micro needling is an exciting new skin therapy innovation for dramatically minimizing fine lines, scars and stretch marks. It is advanced non-surgical cosmetic procedure used to rejuvenate, repair and tighten the skin. Also called Collagen Induction Therapy, micro needling is a non-surgical resurfacing procedure that creates a controlled injury beneath the skin’s surface to stimulate the body to naturally produce collagen and elastin. Collagen and elastin are what give our skin give its texture, structure and appearance. As we age, these compounds break down from sun and environmental damage leading to dry, thin and wrinkled skin. Micro needling activates your body’s own natural healing response resulting in plumper, tighter skin and diminished appearance of scarring, wrinkles and pigmentation irregularities Micro needling is a safe and effective alternative to laser treatment, and offers skin rejuvenation with minimal recovery time and a decreased risk of side effects After a series of treatments, visible results include: firmer and tighter skin, improvement in skin texture and a reduction in wrinkles, stretch marks and scarring.
FLAWLESS(RX) skincare studio uses the DermaPen 3 Micro Needling Pen, the ultimate in Micro Needling Therapy and carries a full line of DP Dermaceuticals to further enhance your treatment results.
The treatment is performed using a rich dose of hyaluronic acid in combination with treatment specific serums that deeply penetrate into the skin’s dermal layer further boosting collagen and elastin production. Dermapen promotes scar-less healing and natural collagen production, similar to fractional laser treatments and laser resurfacing, but without the side effects and downtime. The mechanism of injury is a natural process, which makes micro needling a holistic approach to skin rejuvenation therapy.
-Stimulates the production of collagen and elastin
-Eliminates or reduces crow’s feet and lip lines

Micro needling helps to naturally stimulate new collagen production to the scarred area. The physical nature of micro needling breaks up fibrous and uneven scar tissue and stimulates the growth of new tissue which results in a smoother and more even skin surface. There is also the added benefit of new capillary growth which improves the blood supply to the area, providing a healthy foundation for the new skin.
Micro needling treatments with Dermapen not only target specific imperfections but also provide an overall rejuvenation of the skin. The process improves micro-circulation in conjunction with collagen and elastin formation beneath the skin to thicken the dermis, reducing wrinkles. You will notice improved skin texture, more even skin tone and an overall brightness to your skin while slowing down the signs of aging.
Micro needling activates a cascade of fibroblast and growth hormone factors to generate new skin, collagen and elastin for smooth and healthy skin. The epidermis is effectively thickened and noticeably smoother, and the stretch marks are improved in texture, depth, and color.
A topical anaesthetic cream will be applied for 20 minutes. The Dermapen treatment takes approximately 15 minutes during which the device is moved over the skin using multiple passes. Immediately following the treatment, a specialized serum will be applied to your skin allowing maximum absorption via the micro-channels. You may also choose to have a custom mask applied for enhanced results. The entire process will take approximately one hour.
After treatment there may be temporary redness, swelling, or pin-point bleeding, depending on the depth of the treatment. Your skin may feel tight and slightly sun-burned for the next few hours. Slight redness and minor swelling may last 1-2 days depending on the depth of your treatment.
You will notice glowing and refreshed looking skin in the first week after your treatment. Since Dermapen promotes new collagen formation, the most dramatic results are gradual and progressive over a period of 2-6 months. Best results are generally obtained with a series of 3 treatments spaced 4 weeks apart. The condition of your skin will continue to improve over the next 6-12 months as new healthy collagen is produced and the skin thickens. You will notice smoother skin texture and a reduction in lines and wrinkles. Scars will become smoother and shallower as new collagen is deposited in a normal fashion.
Both technologies work on the principle of creating micro injury to the skin to trigger the body’s natural wound-healing response. The difference lies in the kind of injury that is triggered and how this is done. With fractional laser treatment, the injury produced is a result of the laser charring the epidermis, causing light-thermal injury. This light-thermal injury results in ablation and coagulation of proteins, which leads to necrosis of the cells (cell death). The process of necrosis is disruptive to the body and leads to increased inflammation. On the other hand, the kind of injury experienced with micro-needling isn’t thermal. Micro needling uses microscopic needles to pierce the skin creating micro channels. This procedure works by gently activating the body’s natural skin renewal process, encouraging it to release growth factors from fibroblasts, keratinocytes and monocytes. Because heat is not used, melanocytes are left dormant and thus, this treatment is appropriate for all skin types – and side-effects such as discolouration of the skin often occurring in clients treated with fractional laser treatments, is not a concern with micro-needling.
During the skin healing process, minor itching, hives, flaking or redness may appear. If symptoms persist, please call your Dermapen practitioner.
